Kms cycled today: 80
Kms left: 910
Set off with great expectations for a coffee in a small town 20km away called Randonai. You could see on there were shops labelled..boucherie…boulangerie…tabac…..even an old hotel BUT everything had closed down. There was no life left in this once busseling town.
So we breakfast on our few provisions left in our panniers. Disappointed we head off again. We cycle down a beautiful tree lined avenue to a Trapist Abbey. There we find a humongous gift shop complete with an 80 year old monk behind a very modern till with a conveyor belt…it all seems very out of keeping. I buy a beer, some cheese biscuits and some sweets for the pricely sum of €14.
Eventually we find a tabac in a village with a bit of life, we also stock up on some lunch provisions at a shop and head off.
Every village/town has a Jesus nailed to a large cross. I’m beginning to feel I think it’s like he’s saying “if you think that Hill is hard, try being nailed to this cross for eternity”!
About 5 we get into Le Mans, what a city, it is fab, this is where all the people are! It’s a bustling city so we head out for a right good meal, with thoughts of a cocktail bar after but after a great feed and all that cycling we’re predictably too tired for that!
